The history of Medves Hotel

The construction of certain elements of the current complex dates back to the 1960s, when the wooden cabins of the youth camp were built on the site of the original tent camp, which at the time served as a KISZ youth accommodation. The facility then developed dynamically: the main building and the restaurant block were built, sports grounds were laid out, and by the mid-1980s the indoor swimming pool, gymnasium and automatic bowling alley were completed. At the time, the Medves complex also carried the unofficial title of "the country's most outstanding KISZ training centre". In the early 1990s the facility was converted into a hotel, with the necessary architectural work and modernised service units carried out, such as a billiard room, a cigar room and a non-stop drink bar. As the facility and the uniquely beautiful natural environment surrounding it attracted ever more hotel guests, development did not stop after the 2010s either, and today Medves Hotel has become one of the country's most distinctive places for accommodation and experiences.

Environmental protection

As the facility and the uniquely beautiful natural environment surrounding it attracted ever more hotel guests, development did not stop after the 2010s either, and today Medves Hotel has become one of the country's most distinctive places for accommodation and experiences. The natural environment surrounding the hotel is almost untouched, and the owners and operators repay this by placing a strong emphasis on environmental considerations.

Drinking water is sourced from a local spring, while the resulting wastewater is returned to nature after biological treatment. Renewable energy sources are used for heating, in the form of heat pumps and a biomass boiler. Hot water for everyday use is produced using solar collectors, while a solar power system is currently being built to reduce electricity demand. Waste produced is sorted and recycled at the highest possible rate. With this approach, the hotel aims to do everything possible to keep the uniquely special natural environment surrounding it green and healthy for as long as possible.

Location and facilities

The hotel's location is unique, as it is situated on the edge of the Medves plateau, in the middle of a 6-hectare forest park rich in flora and fauna. The area is rich in geological features: the plateau, the small ravines running down from it, shady beech forests and stream valleys are excellent for excursions and hikes. But the area captivates not only fans of active tourism, but also those who simply wish to rest and recharge, with its tranquillity. In addition, the hotel's design and facilities are intended to meet the needs of a wide range of user groups, so that it is suitable for hosting almost every type of event, including with the involvement of the following facilities:

a gymnasium suitable for several sports;

jacuzzi and salt room
