Medves and its surroundings

The Medves plateau and its surroundings are one of Hungary's lesser-known, yet to be discovered and at the same time breathtaking regions. The plateau itself is not only Hungary's but Europe's largest basalt plateau, offering breathtaking panoramic views in all four directions. With its countless sights, excellent air, castles that transport visitors back to historical eras, and its atmospheric hiking routes and "touristic untouchedness", Medves awaits visitors, towards the following highlighted destinations:

Salgó Castle

(an unparalleled panoramic view of the Karancs and Cseres mountains, as well as the Mátra, Bükk, Börzsöny and Cserhát mountains)

Boszorkány-kő

(volcanic formation, viewpoint)

Volcanic witness mountains

(Salgó, Pécs-kő, Somlya, Szilvás-kő, Nagy-kő near Bárna)
